The Reiki System of Natural Healing and Meditation.

 

Reiki is a spiritual practice developed in 1922 by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui, wich has since been adapted by teachers of various traditions.  It uses a technique commonly called palm healing or hands-on healing as a form of alternative medicine, it is classified as oriental medicine by some medical professional groups. Through the use of this technique, practitioners transfer universal energy through the palms which accelerates the body's natural healing processes, mental and emotional healing giving an overall sense of profound well-being.

 

It is claimed that Mikao Usui had gained the knowledge and spiritual power to apply and attune others by a mystical revelation to what he called Reiki while performing Isyu Guo, a twenty-one day Buddhist training course held on Mount Kurama, Japan .

Mikao Usui's concepts and five principles.

While in the process of developing his Reiki system, Usui summarized a set of ethical principles (called the "Concepts" Gainen), which later became known as the Five Reiki Precepts:

 

"The secret art of inviting happiness, the miraculous medicine for all diseases...

      At least for today:

  • Do not be angry,

  • Do not worry,

  • Be grateful,

  • Work with diligence,

  • Be kind to people.

 

Every morning and evening, join your hands in meditation and pray with your heart. State in your mind and chant with your mouth. For improvement of mind and body."

Meditation

 

The word Meditaton carries different meanings in different contexts. Meditation has been practiced since antiquity as a component of numerous religious traditions and beliefs. It often involves an internal effort to self-regulate the mind in some way.

 

Meditation is used to clear the mind and easy many health issues, such as blood pressure, depression and anxiety. It may be done sitting, or in an active way; for instance, Buddhist monks involve awareness in their day-to-day activities as a form of mind-trainning. Prayer beads or other ritual objects are commonly used during meditation in order to keep track of or remind the practitioner about some aspect of the trainning.

 

Meditation may involve generating an emotional state for the purpose of analyzing that state-such as anger, fear, etc. or cultivating a particular mental response to varios phenomena, such as compassion. The term "meditation" can refer to the state itself, as well as to practices or techniques employed to cultivate the emotional state.

 

Meditation may also involve repeating a mantra and closing the eyes. The mantra is chosen based on its suitability to the individual meditator. Meditation has a calming effect and directs awarness inward until pure awarness is achieved, described as:

 

"Being aware of anything except awareness itself"
